With iCommuteLess you can record and track all your commutes gaining 'smart' feedback.
Record Commutes
- Single click recording
- Select Commute Type and click on 'Start' to record, 'Stop' to stop!
If you are commuting from Home to Work, select Home-to-Work and click Start.
[Note that you should record commutes from same source and destination against a commute type for the app to provide intelligent feedback. Also record Home-to-Work commutes seperately from Work-to-Home commutes or other commutes]
Stats
- Stats indicate how you have fared with respect to time taken
- The more time you save over your previous commute, the better it is. If you save time over the average (calculated as average of time taken for all commutes of this commute type), you are a rock star!
In short, if you see green you are good to go else you are losing time!
Route Map
- Route map shows you the route taken for the commute
- Importantly you get to know where have you lost time (wherever you have lost > 3 seconds is going to be displayed visually)!
- You can get to know where GPS was not available as well
- You can also view in which part of the route your speed is greater than the average speed
Stat Graphs
- Get to know how the you speed up and reduce speed! You can view Time vs Speed, Altitude vs Distance graphs for your commute!
View History
- See all your previous commute details
- Know total time and total distance travelled till now for a commute type
- Visually see your time spent across all the commute types!
Reports
- Get to know how you are spending time for a commute over a period of time (weekly, monthly, etc)
RouteTrace
- We think this is cool! Get to know time saved or lost by simulating one commute performance over another
- Also get to know what speeds you were at in differnt parts of your route!
RouteSuggest
- Identify best route to take if you travelled now, in the next 15 minutes or after 15 mins!
[The best route is identified by analyzing your previous commutes
(less time taken = better route) with respect to start time]
AutoStart
- Dont remember to Start / Stop commutes? No problem. Use AutoStart!
- Set the time to start the recording of the commute (say you travel everyday from Home-To-Work between 7 - 7:15 AM. Set 7 as the time)
- Locate your Start and End points of the commute on a map and you are set! (For Home-To-Work and Work-To-Home, even if you use the app once, the Start-End points are saved automatically)
[The app wakes up at the specified time and recognizes if you are in motion and starts recording. It auto-stops when you reach the destination. In Notifications, you can see iCommuteLess running during this time]
Others
There are a number of other features like ability to delete history, aborting the commute, set detailed configurations to tweak working of the app, etc that you can discover. We also have a few goodies hidden away. And many more are on their way!- What is iCommuteLess?

What is iCommuteLess?
iCommuteLess is an application to track your daily commutes. Based on your commutes, the application will help you in saving time!
iCommuteLess tries to answer the following questions:
- How much time do you spend commuting?
- How much time do you spend in traffic?
- Which route should you take at a given time?
- Should you leave 15 mins early or 15 mins later?
- How is your commuting performance?
How to use iCommuteLess?
If you are trying out for the first time, simply select a pre-defined commute type (like say 'Home-to-Work') and click on 'Start' button to record your commute.
When you end your commute, go to Notifications, choose iCommuteLess and click on 'Stop' button. That's it! Once you stop the recording, the app will show you info on time saved / lost, Stop/traffic time, max speed, avg speed, and so on. The app will also compare your commute performance to that of the previous commute of the same type and give you detailed stats.
Note: It is important to know that you should use iCommuteLess while moving. Just clicking 'Start/Stop' without commuting/moving will not be enough to understand the app features.
What are the cool features of iCommuteLess?
Try AutoStart, RouteSuggest and RouteTrace features!
What is Stop time in stats?
Stop time is the time you spent not travelling in the commute. In essence this is probably the time you lost in signal/traffic! This is displayed on the map as well so you can know where you have lost this time, thereby helping in not getting stuck probably the next time around.
What is AutoStart feature?
You can use this feature to auto-start recording of your commutes. Yes, just like an alarm you can set up a time for the app to auto start and record your commute. Say for example you leave to office everyday at 7-7:15 am (around), you can set up the AutoStart feature for the same by providing the Start Point, End Point and time to start. The app will autostart at 7 and check whether you have started your commute. If so, it will start recording else the app will wait for you to start for 15 mins (configurable). Once you commute and reach the destination (End Point as specified for the commute type), the app will autostop recording! So this means if your commute is regular, then you can setup the commute once and forget it. Every week or so, you can check the stats and use it for getting detailed insights into your commuting.
How to know about stats of previous commutes?
Simple. Click on 'Menu' button on the main screen and click on 'History'. There you can select and go through all of your earlier commutes.
How to get a weekly report of my commute?
Click on 'Menu' -> 'History' -> Select commute type -> Click 'Menu' again -> Select Reports. Weekly report will give you info on your time taken for the commute on a weekly basis. You can avail monthly and full reports as well.
What is RouteSuggest?
RouteSuggest is a feature to suggest a route, for a commute type, based on historical analysis. Select a commute type in the main screen and click on 'Menu' -> RouteSuggest.
RouteSuggest will suggest as to what route you could take to travel for the commute type selected, in the least period of time. It will also tell you the best (least time consuming) route at different commute start times. For example: what is the best commute route if I start 15 minutes from now?
Note that only historical data is used to arrive at this suggestion. Hence the more number of times you use the app to record your commute, the more accruate the suggestions are.
What is RouteTrace?
RouteTrace is a feature to project performance of one commute on another and see how you would fare. For example if you want to see whether you would be faster to reach your destination using Commute 2`s performance in track of Commute 1, you can use this feature. Try it out to know more.
